I have that same problem when I'm sleepy in class. My handwriting is horrible to begin with, imagine what being barely conscious does to it 
Also, I suggest pulling over when the inspiration hits you, don't want you to get in an accident. Or arrested.
Of course I've seen worse. Like yesterday for example. There was this chick talking on the phone, putting on eye makeup and eating, while driving. That's what I call multitasking.
